I am a portuguese artist , living and working in the area of Lisbon.

I  studied drawing and painting in Portugal , in Ar.Co, Lisbon,  in  Belgium  at the Acadèmie Royale des Beaux Arts of Liège, and in the US, at the Chicago Art Institute.

My work  is mainly on silk although I have worked with other materials as can be seen in the the section "other works".

The techniques I use for silk are mainly direct  painting, dyeing, batik, shibori and silkscreen.  Some works are also the result of dyeing and manual pleating.

Each piece I  do in silk is different and new, sometimes similar but never the same. Painting or dyeing on silk is often subject to surprises that cannot be undone,   therefore leading to new solutions; that is the way life is, the way we are:
